In order to promote a volunteer spirit among our students - something that can be continued throughout their lifetime - we started a Library Volunteer Program two years ago. About 50 fourth grade students signed up this year. Each student has an assigned day and time and is responsible for coming each week. The boys and girls are a great help as they shelve books, straighten shelves, water plants, deliver materials, help younger students, and anything else we ask of them. Their only reward, besides smiles from the librarian, is a button with their number of hours worked throughout the year, presented at an awards ceremony in May. These kids really help us keep the library looking great and running smoothly. We appreciate them!
