For the past 6 years, my first and second grade P.E. classes have participated in JUMP ROPE FOR HEART, an event sponsored by the American Heart Association. The money that is raised goeas toward research to help fight heart disease and stroke, our nations #1 and #3 killers. During these past years, Madisonville Elementary students have raised more than $30,000 to help. On Feb. 16, 2005 my first and second graders once again hit the floor for the AHA. Eighteen classes participated and raised just over $7000. Two of my P.E. classes, Mrs. Hunter's 1st graders and Mrs. Dean's 2nd graders, were the top fund raisers for the year. Both classes combined raised almost $2000 of the total amount raised. Way to go!!!
