Thursday Afternoon Weather Update 12/8
First Arctic front of the season blasted into the Brazos Valley Thursday, keeping a blustery day on hand. Winds come down to a light breeze after sunset, but still enough to make it feel like the upper 20s / low 30s for evening plans. Tonight will be a night to take care of yourself, pets, and plants. A widespread freeze is expected with lows ranging between 25 and 31 by Friday morning. Northern counties should protect the pipes as well -- not out of the question for a hard freeze. Overall looking at 7 to 10 hours at or below freezing.
Sunshine makes a return Friday, but temperatures remain unseasonably cold -- highs top off in the mid / upper 40s. Another light freeze (or close to it) Saturday morning with clouds returning through the day. Warming temperatures Saturday night into early Sunday as warmer air blows back in from the south and east. We'll warm close to 70 with a slight chance at light rain to wrap up the weekend. Don't get used to it -- another strong cold front arrives next week.
