Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
Within the last 24 hours we have seen highs in the 80s, thunderstorms, wind gust up to 30mph, hail, flooding and a wind chill that is keeping our afternoon highs feeling like the low 40s. Needless to say....everyone's weather appetite should be satisfied.
All of the weather changes are a product of a strong cold front that pushed through Sunday evening. The line of rain associated with the front dropped 1.85 inches of rain at Easterwood airport. There were also numerous reports near 3.5" in South College Station and Wellborn.
Now that the rain and clouds have cleared out of the area our temperatures will continue to plummet through tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a FREEZE WARNING for most of the Brazos Valley. We are anticipating temperatures at or below freezing for nearly 10 hours.
Low temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 20s and near 30° for the next few nights while our high temperatures will stay in the 50s. These cooler temperatures extend all across Texas. The pan handle and parts of North Texas even saw some snow!
The cold front answered many peoples cry for more seasonal weather and most importantly, measurable rainfall. I guess we could say this cold front was an early Christmas gift!
