Friday Evening Weather Blog (1/17): Fantastic Weekend Setting Up

The stretch of sunny and mild weather will continue into the upcoming weekend. Mild temperatures and an eventual warm-up to more spring-like conditions will be blowing into the Brazos Valley.

Cold Night Kicks Off an Otherwise Mild Weekend

Clear skies. Dry air. Light winds. Chilly air mass.

We will have all of these above on hand for Friday night / the early hours of Saturday morning.

Temperatures will be able to dip into the uncharacteristically cold 30s as we head towards the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning.

A few pockets (especially to the northeast) of the Brazos Valley will have the brief opportunity to touch or dip below freezing for an hour or so. The rest of us -- just a shivery cold.

Mild, Sunshine Awaits You

After a week of nothing but beautiful weather, here in the Brazos Valley, it would be a shame if it all came tumbling down just as we have time to get out and enjoy it.

While things are getting a bit dry and we could use rain -- there isn't a drop in sight. So might as well enjoy the the magnificent hand we've been dealt, right?

Sunshine will start our Saturday -- that and southwest winds help to nudge afternoon highs into the mid / upper 60s, late in the day.

By the afternoon, a broken deck of high-to-mid-level cloud cover is expected to work into the Central and Southern Brazos Valley. No worries, just as they roll in, the sun starts to set. Make plans to be outside, around 5:45pm, for a great #BrazosValleySunset.

Wind Shift Sunday

A weak shift in winds to the north will await you when you step out on Sunday. No worries -- you probably won't even feel it.

The benefit of that north wind will be its clearing capabilities. Our late Saturday cloud cover slips out of the area and full sunshine comes back into play.

Temperatures? Mid-60s...possibly a degree to two cooler than Saturday, that's all!

Three Day, Holiday Weekend

Have Monday off in observance of Martin Luther King Day? The weather will be great to get out and fire up the grill.

South winds take back over and afternoon highs slide on up towards that 70° mark on the thermometer.

Enjoy it -- another cold front arrives on Tuesday and afternoon highs slide back to the cooler upper 50s / low 60s.

While the weather pattern might be a bit on the dull side -- it is absolutely fantastic to step out to and enjoy. My plans involve the hammock and a good book.

Enjoy your weekend! The PinPoint Weather Team will be busy next week, gearing up for some exciting changes. Stand by for some BIG improvements headed your way shortly!
