Friday Evening Weather Blog (2/7): Warmer Days Ahead

After a couple cold and soggy days across the Brazos Valley, we'll look for a warming trend to take hold over the weekend. After a brief stay of spring-like temperatures, another cold front is in to start next week with.

Rain / Drizzle Ending...Another Freeze Ahead

Friday evening found scattered areas of light rain and drizzle sliding to the east and southeast across the Brazos Valley.

The light -- and most significant -- rainfall is moving out, leaving behind cloudy skies and a light mist for most of the area.

Overnight, we'll look for temperatures to fall below freezing for one more night. While rain and drizzle are expected to come to an end before temperatures slide below 32°. moisture on area roads could lead to a few slick, icy spots to form by Saturday morning.

Southwest Winds and Sunshine Go to Work

After a cloudy and cold start to Saturday morning, we'll look for a warming trend to set up across the Brazos Valley.

South winds arrive by sunrise, followed by a subtle shift to the southwest. While the winds will be light, they are a warmer wind helping to push afternoon highs into the upper 50s to low 60s.

Still on the cool side? Sure. But a lot better than the 30s we've been reaching the past couple of days.

Not warm enough for you? Stand by...we can do better.

Sunday looks to start out with scattered, mostly cloudy skies and lows seasonable for this time of the year (low 40s). By afternoon, we'll soar those highs into the upper 60s to low 70s!

Next Cold Front Brings Back Soggy & Cold Weather

Get it while you can....because another cold front is already on the schedule and is expected to reach the Brazos Valley by breakfast Monday.

We'll slide temperatures off towards sunrise Monday morning, before trying to climb just a few degrees warmer by the end of the afternoon.

To go along with these colder temperatures? Another couple rounds of rain. Monday looks to bring light, scattered showers and drizzle.

Tuesday continues to look like the best chance of widespread rain. We'll have to monitor temperatures closely on Tuesday, as another window for freezing rain could exist. Nothing for certain, yet -- but something to keep an eye on for the next several days.

Enjoy climbing out of the freezer this weekend. Get outside and enjoy it.
