Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms rolled across the Brazos Valley Monday, June 9th. Morning rain left behind a rare cloud formation to the north of Bryan / College Station. Evening storms created a brilliant lightning show for most of the area.
The rare clouds that occurred this morning are known as "Kelvin-Helmholtz" wave clouds. In the simplest form, these clouds look like the white caps of ocean waves.
Winds rolling over the top of these clouds helped create the look or comma shape.
During the evening hours, two supercell thunderstorms -- one of which was severe over portions of Milam, Lee, and Burleson Counties -- split Bryan / College Station to the north and west.
Plenty of lightning pictures came in from across the Brazos Valley.
