The weekly Drought Monitor came out at 7:30 Thursday morning and has placed part of the southwestern Brazos Valley back into a drought classification.

All of Austin County, the very southern portion of Washington County and northern portion of Waller Counties have all slipped back into D1 drought classification -- otherwise known as a "Moderate Drought."

As for the rest of the Brazos Valley, "Abnormally Dry" -- or D0 -- conditions are in place. While it is not actual drought, "Abnormally Dry" is usually a precursor to drought conditions.

Officially, Bryan / College Station remains 9.13" ahead of the normal rainfall for this time of the year. That being said, after a soggy February and March, April only managed to see a little more than half an inch of rain locally, prompting the return to drier conditions.
