Parts of the Brazos Valley Caught Up On Rainfall

The weekly drought monitor was released Thursday morning and shows that Brazos, Burleson and Lee Counties are completely caught up from the recent rainfall deficit.

Last week's monitor was an important one for the Brazos Valley as we all officially slipped out of the drought classification. (D1 - D4)

With rainfall events providing much needed precipitation on an almost weekly basis, you will note that Brazos, Burleson and Lee Counties are now completely un-shaded on the drought monitor. (shown below) The yellow coloring notes areas that are still "abnormally dry" -- otherwise known as still a bit below where soil moisture, lake levels and yearly rain totals are still in a slight deficit following the recent drought. The non-shaded counties have been deemed as completely caught up from the drought, and possibly even now considered in excess.

Data collection for each week's drought monitor is collected on Tuesday at 6am and the official monitor is released each Thursday at 7:30am.
