Wednesday Evening Weather Blog (6/4): Kicking Temperatures Up a Notch

Last week it was all about the rain. This week it is all about the seasonable heat across the Brazos Valley. Our 90° string of days will continue -- but we'll warm a bit more in the upcoming days.

Hot? Sure. But It Has Been Seasonable

Mother Nature broke a 240 day streak of sub-90° heat last Friday (May 30th).

Since then, we've had our share of that temperature starting with a nine -- with ample more days to come.

That said, we've reached 91° Wednesday afternoon, following 90° Monday and Tuesday.

91° is also the warmest temperature we've recorded in Bryan / College Station -- officially -- this year.

That, however, is about to change...

High Pressure Nestles In

High pressure has been the controlling factor in our forecast this week. The quiet, humid, hot weather we've had on hand makes that no secret.

A slight change in the works -- Thursday that high's center will be a bit closer to the Brazos Valley.

That should be enough to notch temperatures up a few degrees. In fact, with a forecast high of 93° for Thursday, that would then take over for the hottest day of the year (thus far).

Temperatures are expected to flounder around the 91° to 93° mark for the next seven days.

Grab a glass of Lemonade and settle in -- here we go into the summertime weather.

Tropical Weather

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the far South Gulf of Mexico / Bay of Campeche:

As of Wednesday evening, the NHC only a 20% chance of development on this ragged system over the next 48 hours AND the next 5 days.

Regardless of development, we are NOT anticipating this system to swing towards Texas.

It will bring very heavy rain, possible flooding, and potential mudslides over parts of Southeastern Mexico.
