A group of special needs evacuees from South Texas expected to arrive at Easterwood airport by plane Wednesday afternoon, were a no show.

The planes expected to carry those patients have been re-routed to Galveston.

However,Texas Military Forces alongside Bryan and College Station Fire Departments were at the airport early Wednesday ready to help transport patients once they arrived over to Reed Arena to wait out the storm.

However, the groups were given the go-ahead to pack up camp for the night, after government officials say no official evacuation declaration in South Texas had been made yet--and no patients showed to be transported.

As of right now, there is no plan for the special needs patients to be transported out of Corpus Christi.

Meanwhile, the Community Emergency Operations Center says 10 evacuees and one dog are being sheltered in Brazos County.

The CEOC was fully activated Wednesday morning and will be operating 24 hours a day to coordinate efforts to respond to Hurricane Ike and the shelter needs of evacuees.
