The wait is finally over for some residents in Burleson County, where the town of Somerville is now powered back up.
"We looked outside and saw the street lights going so we were all excited," Somerville Resident Kelly Baker said. "We were like, yea we have power."
After days of darkness, light is gaining a newfound appreciation.
"I couldn't believe it. It's a welcomed sight," Albert Mantey with the Somerville Fire Department said. "We've been surviving on generators and made the best out of a bad situation. We're ready to go."
Local businesses were also ready to go.
"It's been hot and people have been out of jobs and then you don't get paid," Texaco Employee Tina Richmond said. "No work, no pay."
But with the lights now on, business is picking up, thanks to things like drinks, ice, and of course, fuel, which is now in such high demand.
"The vendors are slowly coming in to bring everything back," Richmond said.
What residents can't find on the shelves in local stores, volunteers are serving up at the First Baptist Church just down the street.
"One bag of ice," a volunteer asks a local resident. "Yeah, one bag."
"It's great they have these meals ready to eat," John Corbett said.
