Help Pours in to Those Affected by Ike

Throughout the week, we've heard how communities are coming together in the wake of Hurricane Ike. One such example is in Grimes County.

Earlier this week, News Three ran a story about meals being served to those in need at the Iola Volunteer Fire Department.

Since that story aired, people from all over the state have offered their services.

On Wednesday, 1600 hot meals were given by the American Red Cross who was serving the shelter at First Baptist Church in Bryan.

Since that night's meal was already prepared, those meals were instead delivered to residents in Shiro, Richards, Plantersville and Todd Mission.

Also, Kent Moore's Sawdust Ranch donated a few hundred pounds of sausage to the effort.

Organizers in Iola say they’ll continue to serve meals as long as there’s a need.
