Second Tropical Storm of the Year Forms in the Pacific

Tropical Storm Blas has now formed in the Eastern Pacific.

What was Tropical Depression Three strengthened to a Tropical Storm, with winds of 40 mph shortly before 11:00 Thursday morning. Blas was located about 260 miles SSW of Mazanillo, Mexico moving Northeast at 2 mph.

The storm is expected to curve back to the Northwest before reaching the Mexican coastline. Blas is expected to remain in open waters.
