Monday Evening Weather Blog (4/21): Severe T'Storm Watch Cancelled - Few Storms Still Possible

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was in place for the Brazos Valley has been allowed to expire. A few storms are still possible for portions of the area Monday night / early Tuesday morning.

Monday Night 10:45pm Update

A few strong thunderstorms remain possible for the Northeastern Brazos Valley. Latest details on the overnight storm chance is included in the video above.

While storm potential is not high for the Brazos Valley, activity to the north and west could drift into parts of the area.

While the severe threat is low, any storm that can remain established could bring damaging wind gusts and moderate sized hail.

Chief Meteorologist Shel Winkley has the latest details and timeline on when the area could hear thunder in the video above.

8pm Update

While the SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH remain in place for the Northern Brazos Valley, storm activity has become tame across North and Central Texas.

The cold front responsible for sparking up showers and thunderstorms, north and west of the area, can be seen on radar moving through Dallas / Fort Worth.

As that "cold front" -- more of a north wind shift / drier air mass -- slides into the Brazos Valley, a broken line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible for the area.

Storm Potential Remains Low -- Main Time Window For Activity

Any storm that manages to develop along this wind shift has a low chance of becoming severe. That said, a few rumbles of thunder and gusty winds between 30mph & 40mph could be possible if stronger thunderstorms manage to briefly form.
