With a tropical air mass on hand, torrential downpours prompted Flash Flood Warnings to be issued for portions of the Brazos Valley Wednesday afternoon.
Beneficial -- but Flooding -- Rainfall Totals
Scattered pockets of rain and rumbles of thunder could be found drifting through the Brazos Valley as early as the sunrise hour Wednesday morning.
By afternoon, clusters of strong thunderstorms remained nearly stationary over the central counties of the area (Burleson, Brazos, Madison, Houston, Trinity).
Shortly after the noon hour, the Houston / Galveston National Weather Service issued Areal Food Advisories and Flash Flood Warnings for parts of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, and Madison Counties.
Official rainfall totals ranged from a few tenths of an inch to over 2 inches by Wednesday evening. Bryan / College Station OFFICIALLY only received 0.30" of rain. That said, Weather Watchers from across the region reported in anywhere from half an inch to over four inches of rainfall.

Another Round of Rain Possible Thursday
Typically as we settle into the summer season, high pressure settles itself firmly over Texas and the Brazos Valley.
This week, that high pressure has been split -- one part over Western Mexico / the Baja Region, the other over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.
With Texas falling in between these two highs, deep tropical moisture is being funneled into the state and daily rain chances have developed.
With ample moisture on hand Thursday -- another wave of scattered showers and thunderstorms is anticipated for the area. Along with that, more heavy downpours will be possible.
While rain is not anticipated the entire day, there is not an hour between sunrise and sunset that will not be linked to at least a chance for a soggy situation.
