Douglas F. Welsh, Ph.D.
Weekend Gardener

Dr. Welsh is a Professor and Extension Horticulturist with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M System. His weekly segments on gardening can be seen every Friday, on Brazos Valley This Morning.

His educational background includes a Ph.D. in horticulture from Texas A&M University, M.Agr. in horticulture and adult education from Texas A&M University, and a B.S. in horticulture from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Welsh also serves as coordinator for the Texas Master Gardener program with an active membership of 5,000 Master Gardener volunteers; and is the editor of the award-winning Texas Master Gardener Handbook.

Dr. Welsh has over 28 years of experience as a garden writer and broadcaster, having provided regular garden programming and columns for WOAI-AM1200 radio (San Antonio), KSAT-TV (San Antonio), the San Antonio Express-News and KAMU-FM (College Station).

His recent book, Doug Welsh*s Texas Garden Almanac (Texas A&M Press, 2007), is a must read for gardeners and *yardeners* throughout

Texas.
