ANDERSON, Texas (KBTX) - SH 90 is closed between Anderson and Navasota due to a crash between two 18-wheelers. Motorists who travel this area should expect delays and follow the detour put into place.

Crews with the Texas Department of Transportation are cleaning up fuel that was spilled during the accident. According to troopers with the Department of Public Safety, an 18-wheeler heading north on Highway 90 drifted into the southbound lanes near the Holland Creek bridge around 8:37 a.m. Investigators said the northbound 18-wheeler side-swiped a southbound 18-wheeler then collided with a Ford pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated and released at the scene, according to authorities. One 18-wheeler driver was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station. The other was taken to CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Hospital in Bryan. Both have non-life threatening injuries, according to DPS.

TxDOT expects SH 90 to be reopened around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

DPS said they are looking into whether driver fatigue played a role in this accident.
