COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Several College Station residents are displaced for the night after a pickup truck hit the side of an apartment building, causing damage to the meter box and water pipes.

It happened around 8:00 Tuesday night at 1501 Holleman Drive at Anderson Street.

Police say the driver of the truck was in the parking lot and accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.

Damage included busted water pipes causing about two feet of water to flood apartments. The meter box was also damaged.

Tenants in at least five of the apartments are going to be put up in hotel rooms overnight as crews work to clean up the damage.

One resident tells KBTX it “sounded like a bomb” when his apartment was hit by the truck.
