Somerville boys stop Snook 47-42 in district-opener

SOMERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - The Somerville boys’ basketball team beat Snook 47-42 in their District 26-2A opener at Yegua Gym Tuesday night.

The Yeguas started out hot shooting the ball, with Arvis Burns knocking down a couple of threes and others contributing from deep like Verkobe Woodberry and Brandyn Carter. Somerville led 25-16 at halftime. Snook was able to cut that lead to 3, leading 34-31 heading into the 4th quarter. But the Yeguas were able to hold on for the 5 point victory.

Somerville is now 1-0 to start district play and 4-8 overall. The Yeguas will be on the road at Burton on Friday. Snook falls to 8-8 overall and open up district play 0-1. The Bluejays will travel to Mumford on Friday.
