Thursday cold front kicks up gusty winds through Friday
The snow may be gone (other than the sad remains of stubborn snowmen) but Wednesday was a beauty across the Brazos Valley. Clear skies tonight and plenty cold...just not as cold as the past couple of nights. Lows fall to the upper 30s and low 40s with a touch of fog possible across the far southern reaches of the area. Sunshine again Thursday with the exception of a few hours around mid-afternoon. The next cold front to reach the Brazos Valley arrives mid-to-late afternoon. The way you know that front is here: wind. Gusts 25-30mph kick up between 1pm and 3pm. Temperatures stall around 60° / fall off a bit into the late afternoon hours.
More sun but also more wind Friday. Northwest wind blows 10-20mph, and huffs 30-35mph at times. Highs are stunted to the mid-50s because of it. Sunshine starts the weekend, clouds finish it as another cold front arrives. Rain chance is looking less likely, so really this second front will just reinforce what the first one did. Next week does look wet by Tuesday and Wednesday, potentially lasting through Thursday. We will need to monitor where a cold front stalls and for how long - that will determine if this is a typical rain event or one that could produce an area of excessive rain. Something we will be working on in the coming days...
