Windblown, gusty Friday
Hard to tell for many, but a cold front spent the afternoon sneaking into the Brazos Valley. Wind turned a bit breezy on us, expect that to calm once the sun goes down. Light frost may be on the windshield in the morning as thermometers sink to the low and mid 30s overnight. Hold on tight: once the sun takes to the sky Friday the fan turns back on. A northwest wind is expected to blow through at 15-25mph, with gusts upwards of 30-35mph at times (especially through the afternoon). That north wind holds highs to the mid-50s, feeling more like the upper 40s in the shade.
Calmer wind and sunshine continue Saturday with highs remaining in the mid-50s after a light, morning freeze. Enjoy a chill to your January days? Get it now -- new forecast data suggests that sharply colder air stops short of the Brazos Valley next week. That would put highs in the mid-to-upper 60s and low 70s. Clouds return by Tuesday with a chance for scattered rain and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Noting set in stone, but we will monitor for potential heavy rain by mid-week.
