BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Bryan police were looking for a theft suspect Wednesday at a motel off State Highway 21 around 1 p.m.

Adam Blankenship, 25, wasn’t in his room but another person inside gave police permission to look around. They smelled marijuana and found several drug related items in the room.

As they were leaving police spotted Blankenship in a car in the parking lot. Police say because of his record and the marijuana smell in his room, they thought he might have drugs in the vehicle. They searched the car after a K-9 unit checked it out.

Authorities say they found two digital scales, about 6 grams of meth, and packaging materials in a locked backpack. Police say a key hidden in Blankenship’s hat opened the luggage lock.

Blankenship is now charged with manufacture and delivery, theft, and possession of marijuana.
