You’ll want to hold onto the umbrella and the rain jacket through the weekend as the much advertised low pressure system continues its journey across the Lone Star State. As it does so, periods of scattered rain will be possible each weekend day. Starting with Saturday, a few showers will be possible in the morning, but the better chance to find more scattered coverage moves in for any afternoon and evening plans. The severe weather threat is on the low end with this activity, but like what we’ve seen over the past few days, the main concern to monitor will be localized flooding issues due to saturated grounds & swollen creeks, rivers, and streams across the area. We’ll hold onto a 50% chance for scattered activity Sunday, but like Saturday, know that not everyone looks to get touched by the rain, but a good idea to prep for it just to be on the safe side.

With plenty of moisture in place, a daily, scattered rain chance sticks with us through at least the first half of next week. It’s not looking to be a wash out all-day everyday situation, but radar trends will carefully need to be monitored for some disruptive travel and low-lying flooding at times. Looking on the bright side -- with the rain-cooled air and added cloud cover, temperatures will sit slightly below average in the afternoons with daytime highs only headed for the mid 80s after starting off the mornings in the low-to-mid 70s. Midweek onward into late next week should see us return to a more typical early summer pattern, with more sunshine than rain and temperatures bumping closer to 90. Until then, better to have the rain gear along with you!
