A&M football product Keith Ford part of the WFC 125 card Saturday at Reed Arena
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Reed Arena on the Texas A&M campus usually plays host to Aggie men’s and women’s basketball and Aggie volleyball but this weekend it will host the World Fighting Championships in WFC 125. It will be a mixed martial arts event. WFC is a combats sports company based in Las Vegas.
Aggie Keith Ford is on the card making his mixed martial arts amateur debut. Ford played running back at Texas A&M in 2016 and 2017. He also spent time in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts.
WFC President Matt McGovern says Ford will fight a couple of times as an amateur and then go pro. “You’re seeing a little bit more and more of that with real big time athletes trying mixed martial arts and they’re having success with it.” McGovern added, “There’s not a lot of those guys and so you see some of them and their potential is huge and he is with a really good team in Houston War MMA and so we’ll see how he goes. You’re seeing a little bit more and more of that with real big time athletes trying mixed martial arts and they’re having success with it.”
WFC 125 is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 Saturday night. Doors will open at Reed Arena at 6:00.
