COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - College Station High School will see three new varsity head coaches in charge next school year in girls’ and boys’ basketball along with softball.

Megan Symank is leaving her position with the Lady Cougar basketball program after 9 seasons to become CSISD’s next Assistant Athletics Coordinator. During her time with College Station High School, she made 7 playoff appearances and advanced to the state tournament in 2020. Deanna Doles will replace Symank. She has been an assistant on Symank’s staff for several years before being named the Welborn Middle School Athletic Coordinator three years ago.

Brandy Gibson is also being promoted within the district and will not return to coach the Lady Cougar softball team in 2021. She is going to be an Assistant Principal at CSHS. During her 9 years in the dugout, the Lady Cougars won three district championships and made four playoff appearances.

While College Station High School Athletic Coordinator Steve Huff looks for Gibson’s replacement he will also be on the lookout for a new boys basketball coach. J.D. Sullivan will not return for a 10th season.

Sullivan leaves College Station High School after 5 playoff appearances and one district championship. He picked up his 600th career win last season in a 48-46 win over A&M Consolidated on January 12th. During his nine seasons with the Cougars, Sullivan posted a 9-5 record over the Tigers in the Same Town Showdown.
