BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Two local teachers were among 12 other educators in the nation selected to receive stipends that will help educate young scientists.

The funds are part of the USDA Future Scientists Program to recognize “collaborative student education and outreach.”

James Wood is a fourth-grade teacher at Jones Elementary in the Bryan Independent School District. Hillarie Rollins is a first-grade teacher at Forest Ridge Elementary in the College Station Independent School District.

Both teachers say they plan to use the funding to help enhance butterfly gardens at their respective campuses.
