State, regional softball tournaments brings economic boost to College Station
Over the next two weekends more than 180 softball teams will compete.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - The Texas State Championships and Southwest Regionals presented by Cowart Sports Events, Inc. will be hosted in College Station. Over the course of two weekends, more than 180 softball teams will compete.
An economic impact of more than $4.8 million is expected as players and their families eat, drink and shop in College Station.
The sales coordinator with Compete College Station, Sammi Trehern says visitors have received special passes that help promote local businesses and attractions.
“We try to welcome them to our businesses, our restaurants. So we started passing out our Heart of Aggieland visitor passes at all the gates in College Station and also at the hotels. Everyone in town, mom, dad, sister, brother, should get visitors passes so they can use it at our restaurants.”
Trehern says more than 50 businesses and attractions participate in the program giving certain discounts to visitors.
Tournaments will take place June 11-13 and June 18-20 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex, Central Park, Bee Creek Park, and Bryan Regional Athletic Complex.
