GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five Southland Conference baseball student-athletes appear on the 2021 ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-Region teams, the association announced Wednesday.

Southland Conference Player of the Year Colton Cowser earned first-team recognition for the Central Region after tying for the league lead with 11 home runs and ranking second in slugging percentage (.667), on-base percentage (.470) and runs scored (37) in conference play. He registered 13 multi-hit performances in 33 games against Southland foes. It marks his second career all-region nod.

He was joined on the All-Central Region teams by Sam Houston teammate Jack Rogers – a second-team honoree. The NCBWA Hitter of the Month for May, Rogers was named Second-Team All-Southland and landed on the all-tournament team after setting a Southland Conference Tournament record with 12 runs scored.

McNeese placed three on the All-South Region squads, led by first-team selection and Southland Pitcher of the Year Will Dion. The sophomore hurler tied for the league lead with seven wins and ranked third in ERA (2.25) and strikeouts (68) against Southland opponents.

The Cowboys accounted for two spots on the All-South Region Second Team in Nate Fisbeck and Clayton Rasbeary. A first-team all-league and all-defensive second baseman, Fisbeck earns his second career all-region pick. Rasbeary was tabbed Southland Conference Tournament MVP after hitting 5-for-12 (.417) with six RBI, five runs and three home runs.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America Committee, which is chaired by Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University.

ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Americans will be announced Saturday.
