Sip margaritas and shop local in downtown Navasota Saturday

NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) - Several small businesses in historic downtown Navasota have come together to host the “Downtown Margarita Shopping Extravaganza” on Saturday.

Over 10 businesses are participating, each featuring various takes on margaritas. For example, The Gallery Downtown/House Concerts will be serving Fizzy Karbacharita’s, and new business Blackberry & Honeysuckle will be serving a blackberry margarita and honeysuckle margarita.

Business owners like Tanya Ingram of Southern Charm Boutique and Salon says Saturday is a great opportunity for people to come experience downtown Navasota.

“I think it’s a great time because ‘A’ we have margaritas and ‘B’ Navasota is just something different,” said Ingram. “The charm down here is unlike anything that I’ve ever experienced anywhere that I’ve ever had a store before, and it’s where I want to stay because everyone here is just so welcoming.”

She adds the downtown area has undergone a transformation over the last few years and has added more businesses that have recently opened or are soon to be open.

“The transition down here is absolutely insane,” said Ingram. “The amount of change that has happened in a few short three years is incredible, and it’s only going to be better.”

Businesses like Rail & Rye, Blackberry & Honeysuckle, and The Smith Navaosta are just a few of the new businesses located on South Railroad that are soon to be fully open in the railroad district.

Not only will there be shopping and cocktails Saturday, but there’s also a chance to hear music.

The Gallery Downtown/House Concerts at The Gallery and Rail & Rye Rooftop Bar will have live music as well.

The event is free for the public to attend. Shopping begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
