BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials recently presented 70 students from the Texas 4-H program with $1.4 million in scholarships during the 4-H Roundup in College Station earlier this month.

“Thanks to our generous donors, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is able to award 70 hardworking Texas 4-H students with scholarships that will help support their higher education goals,” said Chris Boleman, Rodeo president and CEO. “The Rodeo and the Texas 4-H program share a passion for promoting agriculture and investing in Texas youth, and together, we are proud to recognize these incredible 4-H scholars.”

The top four schools these students will attend are Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, West Texas A&M University, and Tarleton State University. They will major in 35 different fields of study. The top five chosen majors are Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Biomedical Science, Nursing, and Agricultural Engineering.

Each Texas 4-H scholarship recipient will receive $20,000 toward a four-year undergraduate degree for a total commitment of $1.4 million. Students were selected by Texas 4-H officials based on the students’ involvement with the program, academic achievements, and financial need.
