MADISONVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - Matthew Jarrett was arrested by authorities in Madisonville Tuesday in connection with a high-speed chase across multiple counties earlier this month.

Madisonville police and the Madison County Sheriff’s office said they went to arrest Jarrett at a motel, but he ran from them. Officers and deputies chased after him and eventually caught him near a fast food restaurant around 11:30 a.m. College Station police came to Madison County to pick him up.

Back on June 12, authorities say a chase started in Grimes County and at times speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour. The chase ended in College Station’s Edelweiss neighborhood, but Jarrett managed to getaway. According to College Station Police, he stole the vehicle from a person he was staying with earlier that day.

He’s facing multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and evading arrest.
