Fernández García-Poggio, Cooper Wrap up Augusta National Women’s Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Texas A&M’s Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Hailee Cooper wrapped up their week at the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur at the historic Augusta National Golf Course on Saturday.

Fernández García-Poggio tied for 20th in her second career showing at the ANWA. She fired a 4-over 76 in the final round and shot 4-over 220 for the tournament. Cooper, in her first experience at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, came in 35th and turned in a 10-over 226 for the week. Cooper shot 7-over 79 on the last day.

The Aggies have had two players make the final cut at Augusta for the second-consecutive year. Last season, Fernández García-Poggio locked in fourth place while Jennie Park tied for ninth.

The Maroon & White return to team competition at the 2024 SEC Championships April 12-16 in Belleair, Florida. They will look to defend their conference title from last year as postseason is set to begin.

The Augusta National Women’s Amateur was announced on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, by Chairman Fred Ridley during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. The event was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams.

Provided she remain an amateur, the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, the 2024 Women’s Open, the 2024 Chevron Championship, the 2024 Evian Championship and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
