College Station residents share footage of attempted vehicle break-ins

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Residents of the Castlegate neighborhood in College Station say they’ve been dealing with attempted vehicle break-ins.

One of those residents, Jennifer Dul, said this has been an ongoing issue. She says her husband’s truck was broken into.

“This is a neighborhood where people raise their children. Like any normal human being, we don’t want that happening to us,” Dul said.

Video from Jeffrey Pearce, another resident, shows someone walking up behind a car and checking its door handles before running off.

Dul said she decided to share her security camera footage in a neighborhood Facebook group, leading other residents like Pearce to share theirs.

She says they’ve filed a report with the police, but the neighborhood is considering additional safety measures.

“Filed the reports, provided the video footage, and the neighborhood is basically talking about creating a neighborhood watch program,” she said.

The College Station Police Department said in a statement that they encourage people to invest in security systems and report suspicious activity.
