Texas DPS told KWHI the passenger vehicle was headed east on Highway 290 at around 8:30 Friday morning when it stopped for a dog in the roadway. That vehicle was then hit by one 18-wheeler after another.

“One of the trucks turned over, causing it to spill its load of rocks and begin leaking oil and diesel,” KWHI reported.

No fatalities were reported by Texas DPS, but three people were sent to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

A stretch of Highway 290 was shut down for cleanup and investigation.
