Trump signs executive order to ‘protect children from chemical and surgical mutilation’

WASHINGTON (Gray News) – President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday targeting transgender medical care and procedures for minors.
In a news release Tuesday from the White House, Trump said doctors are ”maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions.”
He called it a “dangerous trend that will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”
The executive order said the United States will not “fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another.”
The executive order defines “chemical and surgical mutilation” to include the use of puberty blockers, the use of hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, and surgical procedures that transform an individual’s physical appearance.
The White House said what they define as “chemical and surgical mutilation” is referred to by others as “gender-affirming care.”
