Hundreds show up to the 4th For the Culture Market

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Hundreds of people took advantage of the great weather on Saturday to shop around and enjoy some great food at the 4th For the Culture Market which took place at College Station City Hall.

The event is put on by the Reach Project as a Black History Month celebration. It also functions as a ribbon cutting for the businesses they’ve helped launch through its entrepreneur program.

“It’s Important not only as an opportunity to get these small businesses out in our community and allow people to learn them and build relationships, but it’s also important for our community. Important to show unity and come together. This event is a great opportunity to show that and so we’re really excited to be out here,” said Max Gerall, Reach Project’s executive director.

Over 65 vendors were present for the event. It also featured live Music, a kid’s area with drawing stations and bounce houses, and food trucks lined up to serve those in attendance.

Trinity Davis, owner of Joana by Trinity Davis, has been a vendor for the past three years said it’s super essential to have a space in College Station where vendors can all come together.

“I think each month I really look forward to it as a celebration for black history and black excellence and bringing the communities together and just staying connected with Reach. They are a super great nonprofit and always being active in the community and making sure to maintain those positive connections,” Davis said.

Another vendor, Shaunyelle Hornes, owner of Monique Crafthouse has been coming for all four years.

“I wanna say it’s very important because I’ll say it again everyone is like locally small owned. So it’s more to get out there and then you can meet other businesses that people never knew about,” Hornes said.

Gerall said that there was a lot of foot traffic making for a beautiful turnout. He said preparation for next year begin next week.
