Crews checking waterways for nonverbal boy who went missing without his seizure medication

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) - Cadaver dogs joined the search in Louisiana for 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez, who has been missing since Thursday

Search teams canvassed New Orleans’ Michoud neighborhood, going door-to-door and checking nearby waterways for any sign of Bryan, who is nonverbal and without his seizure medication.

A representative with the Louisiana governor’s office said the effort remains a rescue mission, not a recovery.

However, officials acknowledged growing concerns about the boy’s condition, noting he was last seen on Ring doorbell video Thursday morning wearing only an adult diaper.

Authorities now believe he may be unclothed.

Despite the circumstances, Bryan’s family and volunteers say they remain hopeful.

“We will have hope that Bryan is found safe. We will always have hope until the last minute and even after that,” Bryan’s mother, Christie, said. “If we recover Bryan’s body, for any chance that he’s no longer with us, we will still be grateful that we’re able to find him.”
