Man, 73, accused of trying to buy 10-month-old girl at an auction house

ANGIE, La. (WVUE/Gray News) – A 73-year-old man in Louisiana is accused of trying to buy a 10-month-old girl at an auction house.
The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Howell Gene Penton after they say he solicited a woman at the Angie Auction House to purchase her infant daughter.
Investigators conducted an undercover operation on Saturday and took Penton into custody without incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further details were not released. Anyone with information about the sale of minor children is asked to call the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-839-3434.
