Actor Shia LaBeouf arrested during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) - Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

New Orleans police were called to a street in the French Quarter around 12:45 a.m. after two men reported being assaulted.

Investigators said LaBeouf was causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a business in the French Quarter. A staff member tried to remove the actor, but once outside, one victim said that LaBeouf punched him several times.

The victims told police that the actor left but later returned, acting more aggressively. Multiple people attempted to hold LaBeouf back and eventually released him in hopes he would leave, but he again punched the same victim, investigators said.

LaBeouf then allegedly punched another person in the nose. He was restrained again until officers arrived.

The actor was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. He was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.

He is known for blockbuster movies such as “Transformers” and “Holes.”
