COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - After a video captured a College Station ISD (CSISD) bus driver driving aggressively on their route, district officials took swift action, and the driver was relieved of his duties.

The person who submitted the video, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the former bus driver began driving erratically on Rock Prairie Road. Out of concern, they began filming the driver on Wellborn Road when the aggressive driving continued.

The district confirmed students were on the bus at the time, though none were harmed.

The person sent the video to CSISD on Tuesday afternoon, and within minutes, district officials were taking action.

“That video was then sent to our transportation department five to 10 minutes later,” explained Director of Communications for CSISD, Austin Dunson. “The transportation department was able to relieve the bus driver of that route within 20 minutes or so.”

The investigation led to the driver being relieved of his duties and his resignation. The driver’s identity hasn’t been released.

“The important part to know about that is that when we receive reports of unsafe behavior in our community, whether it’s at a bus stop, on the road, at our schools, we take immediate action,” Dunson said. “Our transportation department sent one of their bus drivers, an additional bus driver, to relieve that bus driver of that route so that we could conduct a full investigation of the situation.”

Dunson also credited the vigilant community member for helping keep students safe.

“We’re really grateful for having eyes on the road, and eyes around our school district is really important to us,” Dunson noted. “Safety of our schools and safety of our students is a community effort, so we’re incredibly grateful for people being vigilant in and around town, on the roadways, at our schools, around our schools.”

He encouraged people who have safety concerns to reach out to the district.

“We want you to let us know if you ever see something that you feel like is unsafe or student safety is compromised, then call us immediately so that we can take the correct steps to ensure that student safety is maintained,” Dunson added.

CSISD has not confirmed if charges have been filed against the driver at this time. KBTX has reached out to the College Station Police Department for comment and has not received a response at the time of publication.
