COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M University will hold its annual Muster ceremony Tuesday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in Reed Arena. Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m.

Muster is one of Texas A&M’s oldest traditions that unites Aggies in remembrance of current and former students who have died. Hundreds of Musters are held at locations around the world each year on April 21.

The campus event honors current and former students in the local community. It lasts all day, starting with a flag-raising ceremony at sunrise. The 50-year reunion class is invited back to campus for a Camaraderie Barbecue, where they share old Aggie stories and current students share their experiences.

This year’s ceremony will honor the Centennial Class of 1976. The Camaraderie Barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aggie Park.

Following the ceremony in Reed Arena, a rifle volley is fired and a special arrangement of “Taps” is played.

During the Roll Call for the Absent, the names of fallen Aggies are read and attendees collectively answer “Here” for each name called.

The ceremony will feature the Ross Volunteers, Corps of Cadets buglers, the university president, the student body president, the Association of Former Students chair and the Muster Committee.

There are over 300 Muster locations worldwide. The largest takes place on campus in Reed Arena.
