BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - College Station is no longer just an Aggie football town.

From sold-out baseball games to international soccer, the city is stacking its summer calendar with marquee events — and local businesses are cashing in.

“We are super excited about this upcoming summer as we really begin to let other people outside of here see who we are as a community,” Jeremiah Cook, assistant director of tourism for Visit College Station, said.

The Savannah Bananas kick things off in early May, followed by international soccer, a major track meet and softball. Cook said it all starts with one key partnership.

“The most critical part of it is collaboration with Texas A&M,” he said. “We all know that we have these world-class facilities here — and that’s not just the football stadium.”

Venues like Blue Bell Park, Davis Diamond and E.B. Cushing Track give College Station an edge most cities don’t have.

Visit College Station deliberately focuses on June, July and December — when students leave, and local businesses feel it most. The organization works with Destination Bryan and Brazos County partners to build a steady calendar, layering events like the Dave Campbell 7-on-7, the Games of Texas and Fire School to avoid both overcrowded and dead weekends.

“The economic impact is that important for our community,” Cook said.

Cook said the mission goes beyond headline acts.

“It is not just about the flash of, ‘Oh my gosh, Messi’s coming to College Station,’” he said. “It is about the mom and pop restaurant in town that gets to stay open a few more months.”

They say the goal is to make College Station not just a destination — but a great place to live and grow up.
