Husband accused of stabbing wife 24 times to make her stop talking, prosecutors say
MESA, Ariz. (AZFamily/Gray News) - Prosecutors say an Arizona man allegedly stabbed his wife 24 times because he wanted to make her stop talking.
Nathaniel Gotham, 32, made his first court appearance Sunday. He faces a charge of attempted murder.
Mesa Police responded to an apartment Saturday and found Gotham’s wife with serious injuries that appeared to be stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

During Gotham’s court appearance, Maricopa County prosecutors said most of the wounds were on the victim’s back, but she also had cuts to her head, neck and face. She also had defensive wounds to her hands.
Gotham allegedly admitted to stabbing his wife, telling law enforcement he wanted to hurt her and make her stop talking, according to prosecutors.
A judge set Gotham’s bond at $500,000. He is due in court again Friday.
