MESA, Ariz. (AZFamily/Gray News) - Prosecutors say an Arizona man allegedly stabbed his wife 24 times because he wanted to make her stop talking.

During Gotham’s court appearance, Maricopa County prosecutors said most of the wounds were on the victim’s back, but she also had cuts to her head, neck and face. She also had defensive wounds to her hands.

Gotham allegedly admitted to stabbing his wife, telling law enforcement he wanted to hurt her and make her stop talking, according to prosecutors.

A judge set Gotham’s bond at $500,000. He is due in court again Friday.
