Willis ISD IT employee arrested for online solicitation of minor

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - A Willis Independent School District IT employee was arrested Sunday following an investigation into an inappropriate relationship with a child, authorities said.

Austin Gwaltney, 27, faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives with the agency’s Special Victims Unit determined that Gwaltney and a 14-year-old former Willis ISD student had exchanged inappropriate photographs.

Investigators executed arrest and search warrants at Gwaltney’s residence late Sunday evening. Gwaltney was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held on a $125,000 bond.

The joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is ongoing.
