Job Description: Performs semi-skilled maintenance on gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes. Replaces parts (ex. exhaust systems, batteries, belts, hoses, etc.). Repairs and replaces tires. Performs preventative maintenance inspections. Completes and updates manual and computerized service orders. Assist by driving a DOT regulated vehicle in test driving, recovery of disabled vehicles, delivery of vehicles, etc. Assures shop area is kept clean and without clutter at all times.

Persons in this position will be required to drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus and are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One (1) year of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair or completion of an automotive or diesel trade school. Must have valid driver's license and good driving record. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas Class "B" vehicle operator's license with airbrakes and passenger endorsement within 45 days of employment. Must be able to obtain Texas State Inspections license within 60 days of employment. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience: Some vocational training in related field. Significant working knowledge engine and drivetrain components. General understanding of automotive maintenance and repair. Commercial vehicle operator's license with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement. Valid State Inspections license
Special Instructions: Work hours: Monday -- Friday 2:00pm -- 10:30pm. Hours are subject to change between University semesters and class breaks. Will be required to work Saturday football game as needed. This position will be covered by DOT regulations & be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool. Please submit a complete TAMU application. Rate of Pay: $11.50-14.77/hour
