KBTX is looking for an innovative newscast producer to join Brazos Valley This Morning, the area’s number one morning newscast. We’re looking for a producer who lives for urgent, impactful coverage of what’s new, now and next, and excels in breaking news and weather situations.

As the Brazos Valley’s dominant #1 news station, you’ll have the largest and latest resources to create a show that resonates with viewers. You’re joining a team of exceptional journalists that are committed to our community and work to make it better, both on and off camera.

As a newscast, producer, you will oversee a team of journalists from varied backgrounds on a tight deadline, so strong planning and communication skills are a must.

You must approach each assignment with a passion for great, human stories, enjoy and remain active on social media and constantly be competing for the day’s top story. If you have a passion for journalism and a talent for storytelling, this is the job for you. Great writing and a willingness to learn will earn you this position.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

• Researching, writing and editing daily content for television and web platforms
• Producing a quality, accurate show that resonates with key demographics
• Identifying the day’s most important stories and sourcing materials relevant to your audience
• Working with management and staff to generate stories and content
• Meeting daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Planning and timing shows to meet ratings goals

Candidates should also exhibit a good work ethic, strong people skills, the ability to be a team player and must maintain a professional attitude at all times. This position requires availability to work weekends, and may require holiday work.

At least one year of experience in a TV newsroom, as well as a college degree in broadcast journalism or a related field is preferred. Experience with ENPS or Sony XPRI non-linear editing software is a big plus.

Passing a drug screening and motor vehicle records check are conditions of employment. Gray Television, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and participates in E-Verify.
