A pedestrian holding an advertising sign was seriously injured Monday afternoon in College Station after he was struck by an SUV that ran a red light.

It happened just before 5:00 p.m. on Rock Prairie Road at the Highway 6 overpass.

According to College Station police, a Lexus SUV ran a red light while traveling eastbound along Rock Prairie Road and was hit by another SUV that was southbound on the feeder road.

The Lexus was pushed onto the sidewalk, striking someone who was holding a sign advertising for a local business.

Police said the pedestrian was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken by a medical helicopter to a hospital in Temple for further treatment.

The drivers of the two SUVs had only minor injuries and were not transported by ambulance to a hospital.

Rock Prairie was closed for almost two hours as police wrapped up their investigation.
