Service restored for AT&T customers unable to call 911

UPDATE: Service has been restored for AT&T customers affected by an issue connecting to 9-1-1.

ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency dispatch centers across Texas, including the Brazos Valley, are receiving reports that AT&T customers are unable to call 911 at this time from cellular phones.

"We have confirmed with AT&T Wireless that they are currently experiencing an issue affecting 9-1-1 calls within several states, including Texas," said Brazos County 911 District Executive Director Patrick Corley.

"At this time, we have not been advised of an estimate of when 9-1-1 calling will be restored to AT&T customers. We are currently monitoring the situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available," said Corley.

In the meantime, callers are encouraged to utilize the following alternative numbers to reach emergency services:

(979)-764-3600 in the City of College Station

(979)-361-3888 in the City of Bryan and rural Brazos County.

In Robertson County call 979-828-3299

"We are aware of a service issue affecting some calls to 911 for wireless customers and we’re working to resolve it as quickly as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience," said a spokesman for AT&T.
