COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) -- Aggieland Humane Society received a big donation Friday afternoon. Petco granted them a $20,000 check to help fund to their spay and neuter program.
The unit allows low-income Brazos County residents to get the operation done for free and helps control the pet population. It also keeps the number of animals in shelters low.
“In the last year and a half, we’ve launched our mobile spay neuter unit for this community. It’s the first nonprofit spay neuter program. We are so excited to announced we did over 3,000 animals in the first calendar year, and this year our goal is 4,000 pets,” said Kathy Bice with the Aggieland Humane Society.
The mobile spay and neuter unit operates four days a week.
